The farmland now known as Vesper Hills,
was deeded to Faith United Methodist Church by church member Eura
Felumlee in 1960. The gift of the land called for the property to be
used by the church to the "Glory of God."
The lodge and primitive restrooms were the
first structures to be built on the property. Also in the early
1960's, a Boy Scout troop, that was sponsored by the church, planted
approximately 1,000 pine trees. In more recent years, the lodge has
undergone many upgrades. A bunkhouse and picnic shelter have been
constructed and modern restrooms with shower facilities were added.
In addition, there are recreational areas available for kids
including two playgrounds and a basketball court.
The only original structure remaining from
the Felumlee property, is the garage. The Felumlee farmhouse was
razed in 2000. The road that takes you to Vesper Hills is named
after the Felumlee family.
